Why choose EquiFlow for your horse?
-
Hyaluronic Acid for Joint Support
EquiFlow contains high potency long-chain Hyaluronic Acid, the vital component of joint fluid. It's absorbed rapidly, providing powerful support for your horse's mobility and comfort.
-
Liquid Formulation
EquiFlow is a virtually tasteless, clear liquid that is well accepted by the pickiest of horses. Liquids are absorbed more quickly so your horse gets the support they need quickly.
-
Clean production
EquiFlow is made in a controlled, clean laboratory environment, free of any NOPS (naturally occuring prohibited substances). This makes it safe for competing horses or those with allergies or being treated for other conditions.
-
Proven ingredient
Hyaluronic Acid has been proven effective for arthritis by medicine licensing authorities. Hyaluronic Acid can provide the support your horse needs

Why Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is nature's magic ingredient in synovial fluid; crucial in joints for reducing friction, absorbing shocks and nourishing cartilage.
As horses get older they produce less HA and inflammation leads to more rapid breakdown of HA so the quality and quantity of HA in the joints decreases.
Supplementing with EquiFlow can replenish natural HA supporting joint function and helping to reduce soreness and soothe stiffness.
Invest in your horse's health and happiness today and see the difference it can make in therir life.
Which horses might benefit?
-
Older horses
Older horses experience joint pain due to age-related wear and tear of cartilage and connective tissue.
Supplementing with high molecular weight hyaluronic acid can help replenish joint fluid quality, promoting lubrication, reducing friction and supporting joint health.
-
Equine athletes
Horses engaged in long hacks, work or competitive sports put extra strain on their joints and connective tissues.
Hyaluronic acid supplements including vitamin C help active horses with improved flexibility, reduced injury and better overall mobility.
-
Recovering horses
Orthopaedic procedures involve trauma to joints and connective tissues, leading to inflammation, pain and reduced mobility.
Hyaluronic acid joint supplements provide horse owners with a natural and effective means of supporting their horse's joint health and reducing pain during recovery

Why choose EquiFlow?
Many joint supplements don't bother to include hyaluronic acid at all, ignoring all the evidence for its potential!
EquiFlow contains liquid, long chain hylauronic acid, shown to be absorbed and concentrated in the joints within hours of consumption.
Clean production methods mean EquiFlow is ideal for sensitive or allergic horses.

What is important about the Hyaluronic Acid in EquiFlow
EquiFlow derives its unique properties from the size of its hyaluronic acid molecules (700,000 - 1 million units long), most other supplements that contain HA have much smaller molecules do not offer the same properties.
The size of the HA molecule is critical to maximise its absorption.
The purified long chain hyaluronic acid (such as in Zooomy) has been shown to be taken up after oral administration and be concentrated in the skin, bone and joints.
Other commercial preparations using HA from animal-derived sources have not been shown to be absorbed after feeding and their HA molecules are likely to be too small to deliver a benefit to your animal and may even cause inflammation.

Why does EquiFlow contain Vitamin C?
Vitamin C is used in the synthesis of collagen, an important protein required for cartilage repair and function.
I've heard Hyaluronic Acid can also be injected, how can EquiFlow be given orally?
Following a diagnosis of degenerative joint disease or tenosynovitis, (inflammation of the tendon sheath), injections of hyaluronic acid can be delivered directly into the diseased joint, making it available immediately in high concentrations. However, this procedure can only be carried out by a veterinary surgeon.
The procedure is minimally invasive but comes with a risk of infection and some animals may develop a short-term adverse, inflammatory reaction (joint flare).
The injectable form may also be administered intravenously but studies have shown the half life is only a few hours, suggesting that the hyaluronic acid is cleared from the body quickly and that the benefits might be short-lived.
Oral supplementation means the hyaluronic acid can be delivered all over the body. So animals with multiple affected joints may be more suited to oral administration instead of individual joint injections.
Daily oral provision of hyaluronic acid by the owner is a pragmatic means of achieving long term maintenance of healthy joints.
Where does Hyaluronic Acid come from?
In most instances, hyaluronic acid in other joint supplements has been isolated from chicken by-products; by breaking up cartilage or extracted from rooster combs. When sourced in this way, HA is present as small molecules and in a low purity state with a high protein content and has not been shown to be effective.
The HA in EquiFlow is manufactured by microbial fermentation. This process gives a high purity, high quality, uniform product. It also means that no animals are involved in the process and it’s suitable for those wishing to control the protein intake of their horse.

What testing is done on EquiFlow?
In an approved and certified laboratory, each batch undergoes Naturally Occurring Prohibited Substances (NOPS) testing to guarantee it is free from commonly known contaminants (full list available on request). Each batch also undergoes microbiological assessment to demonstrate it is below measurable limits of bacteria, yeasts and fungi.
Is it safe to use EquiFlow with other supplements and veterinary prescribed medicines?
Yes. There are no known interactions with other supplements or medications.
How to use EquiFlow?
Consult the label and identify the weight related dose for your horse/pony and apply the cuff (s) to the shaft of the pump if required. Load with one dose twice a day in the feed for the first 5 days and then maintain at one dose per day.
A 1 litre container will last for approximately 28 days and a 2.5 litre container will last for around 11 weeks, if using the 30ml dose including the loading period; 33 days and 12 weeks respectively on maintenance.
Many owners report improvements within 7 days, with horses showing more comfortable, fluid gaits and improved levels of lameness, but we suggest leaving it for 4 weeks before making an evaluation of your horse’s response.
When to use EquiFlow?
Equiflow is useful to help animals with a musculoskeletal injury, supporting the repairing tissue until it is healed. Alternatively it can be used as an ongoing aid for horses and ponies suffering progressive, degenerative issues or even in younger animals as part of a prophylactic programme.
The feedback that we have received has been very positive, with most clients opting to keep their horses on Equiflow long-term.
How should EquiFlow be stored and how long will it last once it’s opened?
EquiFlow should be kept at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
As long as the pump is fitted to the open container, EquiFlow can be used until the printed expiry date.
Why might EquiFlow not help my horse?
Oral hyaluronic acid (HA) is designed to support animals with depleted levels of their own HA, such as older horses or those with injury inside their joints, which is leading to more rapid breakdown of their own HA.
Hyaluronic acid cannot support conditions that are neurological in nature or associated with ligaments or other structure outside a joint or tendon sheath. Some conditions that may appear to be similar to arthritis and that are assumed to be associated with a joint injury may well not be and EquiFlow will not give support in these situations.
With very advanced joint disease, oral hyalruonic acid may not be sufficient support to improve mobility such as if there is a significant loss of cartilage or extensive additional bony growth around the joint.
As with all supplements and to some extent medicines, there is some trial and error involved to find the product, or combination of products, that suits your horse best.
Support offered by oral hyaluronic acid is dose and time dependent. Some horses will need more hyaluronic acid than others, some will need the label amount for longer and some might need more HA for longer. If your horse does not appear to be getting joint support from EquiFlow please reach out to us to discuss your options to modify their regimen.
Are there any EquiFlow side-effects?
Hyaluronic acid is a remarkably unreactive molecule and can be well tolerated by all horses and given in addition to other medicines or supplements.
